Komen Race for the Cure

Last Sunday Jessica and Bransby ran in the 5K Komen Race for the Cure at Fashion Island. It was Jessica's first time running a 5K and hopefully there will be more in the future. Photos of them were in the local newspaper:

Daddy-Daughter Trip

After Bransby's Boulder Triathlon, he and Samantha headed on a road trip with Uncle Corbett and cousins Brad, Clayton and Lindsey. They drove to Yellowstone National Park, then to Park City, saw Grandparents in Utah, and arrived home a week later.

We saw dolphins in the water at the beach

Zac enjoyed the natural ocean sounds of the beach that lulled him to sleep

Samy played in the sun, sand and surf

View of the marina from our table at Brophy Bros

We all enjoyed their famous Cioppino and Fish & Chips

Later in the afternoon, we checked out the State Street shopping area and strolled through a local farmer's market

beach days

We have had quite a few beach days over the last few weeks and our favorite beach is Little Corona del Mar Beach which is less than 10 minutes from our house.

Ironman 70.3 Boulder Triathlon

Bransby participated in the Ironman 70.3 Boulder Triathlon at the beginning of August.

The Ironman 70.3 Boulder competitors stroke their way through a one-loop, 1.2 mile-swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride that takes racers up rolling hills and then the 13.1-mile run course loops twice within the Boulder Reservoir on mostly packed gravel trails and road. Scant shade leaves athletes vulnerable to the sun for the majority of the route. Volunteer support is plentiful, often with themed aid stations providing both nourishment and motivation to athletes on their journey. The famous Boulder Flatirons serve as the finish line backdrop.

Bransby completed the swim in 34:45 with a pace of 1:47/100 and placed 50th in his division.

He biked the 56 miles in 2:55:06 with a pace of 19.19 mi/h which put him at 107th in his age group.

The 13.1 miles on the run took 3:02:21 which averaged a pace of 13:55/mi (this super slow pace - over an hour slower than it should have been - was due to an upset stomach)...with a total time of 6:36:21 for this triathlon.

Way to go, Bransby!
